I hope you had a great week and that you're ready to practice some English.
First of all, I want to teach you a famous sentence:
Em primeiro lugar, quero te ensinar uma famosa frase:
"The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog"
It's a very popular sentence because it uses all the letters of the
alphabet. This makes it a great way to practice your English pronunciation
every day.
É uma frase muito conhecida, porque usa todas as letras do alfabeto
em inglês. Isto faz dela uma ótima maneira de praticar sua pronúncia em
inglês todos os dias.
Today, I want to give you some tips on how
to practice speaking in English. We're going to start this lesson by
remembering the difference between enunciating and pronouncing.
Hoje eu quero te dar algumas dicas para praticar a fala em inglês.
Vamos começar esta classe recordando a diferença entre articular e
pronunciar.
Pronunciation is properly saying each
group of letters to make the correct sounds.
Pronunciar é dizer cada grupo de letras de maneira correta para
emitir os sons corretos.
Enunciation is speaking clearly in order
to allow someone to understand what you are saying.
Articular é pronunciar de maneira clara para que se possa entender o
que você está dizendo.
Let's look at an example with the word "February":
Aqui está um exemplo com a palavra "February":
Correct pronunciation - "Feb-rue-air-ee"
Pronúncia correta
Correct enunciation: saying the word slowly and clearly.
Articulação correta: dizer a palavra devagar e claramente.
However, if you said "Feb-you-air-ee" slowly and clearly, you
would be enunciating well but your pronunciation would not be correct.
No entanto, se você dizer "Feb-you-air-ee" devagar e
claramente, você estaria articulando bem mas sua pronúncia não seria
correta.
Or, if you said
"Feb-rue-air-ee" properly but you said it very quickly and
quietly, your pronunciation is correct but nobody will be able to hear you.
Ou se, pelo contrário, você dizer "Feb-rue-air-ee"
corretamente, mas o fizer rapidamente e baixinho, sua pronúncia estaria
correta, mas a gente não poderia lhe compreender bem.
This is why I always tell my students
that to speak like the Queen of England, you must enunciate AND
pronounce words well.
Por isso sempre digo aos meus alunos que para falar como a rainha da
Inglaterra a gente deve pronunciar E articular as palavras corretamente.
