Seu progresso: Beginners Continue estudando Today we are going to look at an important auxiliary verb in English: the verb do.Hoje vamos estudar um verbo auxiliar importante em inglês: “do”. We use the auxiliary verb do in negative sentences, questions and short answers for most verbs (except for the verbs “be” and “have got” and also modal verbs) in the Present Simple. Remember that in the third person singular we use does.Usamos o verbo auxiliar “do” em frases negativas, perguntas e respostas curtas com a maioria dos verbos (exceto os verbos "be" e "have got" e os verbos modais) no presente simples. Lembre-se que na terceira pessoa do singular usamos “does”.  Let’s take a look at the use of do in questions, short answers and negative sentences.Vamos ver o uso de “do” em perguntas, respostas curtas e frases negativas. QUESTIONS and SHORT ANSWERS: • Do you like to study English? Yes, I do. Você gosta de estudar inglês? Sim.  • Does she go to the same school as you? No, she doesn't. Ela vai à mesma escola que você? Não. • Do you understand French? No, I don't. Você entende o francês? Não. NEGATIVE SENTENCES: • He doesn't like to play football.Ele não gosta de jogar futebol. • John doesn't enjoy school very much.O John não gosta muito da escola.  • I play the piano but I don't play the guitar.Eu toco piano, mas não toco guitarra. • They don't eat pizza very often.Eles não comem pizza demasiado amiúde.
